The website didn’t mentioned other details of the rumored devices but the reports says that the upcoming handsets from Blackberry will be called as “Rome” and “Hamburg”.
BlackBerry May Launch Two Android Phones This Year
The Blackberry “Rome” will be the high end
smartphone and will possess specifications similar to Blackberry Priv
which comes with touchscreen and keyboard. The another upcoming
Blackberry smartphone, “Hamburg” will be a mid range smartphone, it will
have have a touchscreen but it may not come with Blackberry keyboard.
The report maintains that Blackberry could perhaps launch the mid range
“Hamburg” smartphone by autumn of 2016 and “Rome” by the end of this
year.
Blackberry OS seems to be on the verge of decline, like last month Whats App announced that it will terminate support for BlackBerry by the end of this year. Earlier, Blackberry was rumored to launch the
phone called the “Vienna” which was said to have full QWERTY keyboard as
seen in Blackberry’s classic smartphones. The company was supposed to
launch the device at an event in Mobile World Congress in February, but
it proved to be wrong and Blackberry didn’t launched it.
Blackberry unveiled its first Android Headset,
PRIV last year with aim to refresh the sales. The company didn’t
disclosed the handset sales figures in its quarterly earnings. The sales
figures of th PRIV might be revealed in the next earnings report of
Blackberry. The company is having hopes on its first Android Headset,
PRIV. Experts claim that if it also fails to meet the expectations of
the Blackberry, the company may exit entirely from the hardware company.
Since the Android and iOS became popular,
Blackberry wasn’t able to cope with the competition from Google and
Apple. In order to regain its grip, Blackberry will have adopt latest
technologies and set the right pricing for its smartphones.
